Today is the start of Bahama Bob's Bark Juice run and the retirement of Bahama Bob's Root Juice after 29 months and 45 gallons of 151 rum passed through it's roots. All in all it is pretty amazing to me that it had such an incredible run. The Root Juice has been refilled and will be placed on the shelf before it is auctioned off for a suitable cause at a later date.
The bark juice is also an infusion, but significantly different, these are barks that have been acquired from all around the Caribbean. There are barks from Barbados, St. Lucia, Antigua, Virgin Islands, Balise, and Key West that are in this new infusion. These barks were infused first with a wine and honey combination that was soaked into the barks, and drained off after 2 weeks. The 151 rum was then added and has been sitting on the barks for 2 weeks and is now ready for tasting. I still have not tasted the Bark Juice myself, but I am looking forward to the first sip later today.
It will be available to all at the Rum Bar in Key West starting today and remain there until the flavor fades or I create a new infusion. This is going to be interesting to see how it really tastes with all of the different barks and the use of wine and honey in this infusion. ;o)
